League of Legends – MOBA

League of Legends was created way back in 2009 where until now, it reigns in the world of Esports. It is a team-based strategy game where two teams of five powerful champions face off to destroy the other’s Nexus. You can choose from over 140 champions to annihilate the enemy team; make epic plays, secure kills, and takedown towers as you battle your way to victory.

Gameplay

League of Legends is comprised of two teams having 5 players each. Basically, each team has its own team base. The goal is to destroy the Nexus first (the heart of the teams’ bases). The Nexus is where minions are spawned. Behind it is the fountain, it is where you can regenerate your health and mana, open the Shop and respawn. Located in the enemy team’s base, the enemy Nexus is just like yours. Destroying the enemy Nexus wins your team the game. There are three lanes overall each having allied and enemy turrets. You must make your way by clearing the path (eliminating minion waves) and destroying the enemy turret. When you reach the enemy team’s walls, you will see the inhibitor wherein if you destroy it, it will spawn super minions, these are a powerful type of minions with enhanced damage and health. This is an advantage if you are pushing your way to the nexus. It could clear minion waves for you. In the jungle, you can see different neutral monsters and jungle plants. The two most important monsters are Baron Nashor and the Drakes. Killing these two grants you buffs which could strengthen your team.

Downside

You have to choose words when the things are not in your favor. As a team, you are all to blame. These are your real buddies, so do your best to be nice even if you all are angry and upset. Also, the following are some of the effects of the game to the minds and perspective of people:

  1. Emotional Problems – You can be angered easily and very short-tempered.
  2. Procrastination – You will procrastinate more after you play League of Legends. You would be wanting to play League of Legends instead of your work.
  3. Addiction – You will get easily addicted if you just get 1 kill or 1 very good play. When you kill someone you feel good, and because work does not give that kind of “good”, your brain would want to play League of Legends more.
  4. Forgetfulness – After playing 4 hours a day for 7 days, you might experience forgetting stuff. I know it’s normal to forget stuff, but this time period you would likely experience more than usual.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Thresh’s full HP when level 18 without items is 2013? This was date he was released in the game.

Conclusion

League of Legends is such a dynamic game ever since. There are a lot of changes and improvements every season. Until now, League of Legends has been one of the most successful games ever made and to be played throughout the world. It has been competitive even with current games that are rising right now. Before the millions of players, before the billions in revenue, before the esports tournaments that topped 100 million spectators, League of Legends was more of an idea than a game. And the game that did exist in the year-long lead up to its release wasn’t very good. League of Legends is immensely successful because it’s fun at all skill levels. The basic premise of the game is easy to grasp, but mastering it takes years of dedication. League of Legends, although a little difficult to learn, is a fun game once you get the hang of it. There’s lore, there are diverse characters, and the main game itself is pretty straightforward. The best part is that there’s always something new to learn, whether it’s about a character, how to play the said character, or even more about the game and new strategies on how to win.
